Bachelor’s Choice (among other unrelated things)

Talk about delayed blogging. My mom’s been pestering me to update her blog with a new theme and login matters. Heck, I can’t even update this blog for crying out loud! Wordpress has a new version na pala, and there’s an iBlog this coming weekend that I didn’t know about until the manbitch Ade randomly plugged the Man Blog’s gangbang festival.
Just in case you need cheap gadgets like Western Digital hard disk drives, Armani Phones (no, I couldn’t even afford one for myself) or Lomo cameras at low, low prices - check out my not-so-new startup business I set up with my best bud in college - because being a designer never pays the bills when you’re in the Philippines.
And yes, I’ve been whoring (multiple) multiply accounts instead of utilizing this blog that I pay for every year. Sad. And I think my blog has some kind of a porn trojan virus. I created a backup file a week ago and had all these porn and weird ad placement links all over. Argh.
As for other random things,

At least that’s what photographer Ken Rockwell says. Partially one big lie in terms of my (supposed) lifestyle.
Photography is one big f***** up hobby. If I didn’t buy a dSLR and whore it with accessories like lenses and my new flash, I could have placed a downpayment on a condo unit. But no.
Maybe I’ll make a miniature figure of myself and sell it for 12,000 pesos. As if money was as easy to earn like that. Well, some people do earn that in a jiffy. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying!
Work’s been mighty fine and my first salary’s on the way. Stressful, but at least I get to sleep on the job! (not counted for work hours though.) Not enough to cover my gadget accumulation syndrome (and my closet-filling fetish) but yeah.
Shopping Guy/Philippine Men’s Magazine Monopoly/SEO Things

Disclaimer : there are two parts for this entry : one mundane and one reflective. You can forward to the 2nd half if you want.
I’m a guy and I find shopping to be therapeutic (and also depressing after I check my wallet at the end of the day) and was browsing some blogs and saw that Topman Philippines had an off-season sale the whole of March. I find my clothesbuyingfetish to be really excessive since I’m ’sponsored’ by my aunt with preproduction reebok, vans, 2be, solo shirts among other brands, haha.
I TOTALLY MISSED IT. But I didn’t miss out on F&H’s off season sale yay. I’m going to work later and I promise I won’t sidetrip to the Ayala malls. I promise. I also won’t buy at Team Manila today, sorry Kuya Mon and Jowee!
I NEED to save up for that RAM expansion card while my online revenues will be for my dSLR (or my car) lol. I love my mom’s Paypal account since it’s full-featured so I can receive payments. I just hate the 3-6% charge Paypal deducts from the transactions but it ain’t bad at all.
Also, while I was browsing some thread at PinoyExchange I suddenly remembered my friend An-an’s shirt from VV:

lol, that was so random.
As for Philippine Men’s Magazines, i was amazed to find out while browsing through Summit Media’s magazine offerings that they ‘own’ all of the three main Men’s magazine brands locally, FHM/Maxim/Uno. Talk about monopoly. Speaking of which, I really find Maxim’s graphic design team to be slightly (sorry for the use of the word) ‘inferior’ to FHM’s and Maxim’s, no offense. I have never seen too much blatant use of Comic Sans in my entire life. Plus, the ‘2.0 look’ doesn’t really suit the magazine well. But that’s just a personal preference. I’m extending my usual post length na, haha.
Which brings me to my final point for this entry. I think that I have a lot of potential with regards to the progression of my graphic design skill, not being cocky and all. I have a lot of concepts and ideas stuck in my head that I couldn’t project properly because of my ugly computer/laptop specs. As much as people tend to say that ‘it’s not in the equipment, it’s in the talent’ or whatever, it isn’t necessarily true for all scenarios. I mean, if you don’t have the taste and the eye at all to begin with, you would never be it but I personally find that I work better when my equipment’s better. The shift from windows to mac really has improved my aesthetic sense and my work ethics but I think I could make some stuff flexibly and fluidly if I had totally upgraded specs because some of the actions/rendering things I want to integrate with my work just doesn’t load at a reasonable time. For example I wanted to do this certain effect, it would just take too long (3-5 minutes) and sometimes the result isn’t what I really wanted because there’s some option that’s obstructing it which just makes me depressed about it.
Online advertising’s really giving me money - I’m expecting by June that I’d earn more money than all my design projects combined. I LOVE MY MOM’S PAYPAL MWAH (okay, that wasn’t intended to be posted here.)
Thing is, one can’t help but get intimidated specially when there are talented 13-year old whizkids like Carl. At a young age, he knows a truckload of online marketing jargon than I do - haha, I’m a late bloomer in this SEO thing anyway. How I wish blog advertising’s been available during ‘my time’ so I could be a bloddy millionaire now but noooo. I was playing Pokemon and bloody videogames during that time and got rejected for Ateneo high.
OMG I EXPOSED A LOT OF THINGS.
Anyway, I enjoyed high school in Claret so no regrets. The biggest regret in my life would probably my pokemon-playstation-ragnarok phase because it was such a waste. There was no progression and I was all otaku and whatever. No offense, but I really despise my ex-life.
Blah, I’m going emo again. Tama na nga!
