Men’s Jeans Terms (from Topman)

by Aaron on Jan.31, 2007, under Articles

Taken from Topman
Because everyday, you learn something new.

SELVEDGE
It’s super strong edging on a bolt of denim, then woven so it won’t unravel. It’s a sign of superior quality in a pair of jeans.

RINGSPUN DENIM
The denim not denim range is used with ringspun cotton yarns twisted for strength.

STONEWASH
If you like a worn, super-soft feel in you’re denim. A distressing wash with stones.

ENZYMES
Chemicals that get added to ‘eat away’ at the denim to create that vintage look.

‘LEFT/RIGHT HAND JEANS’
Left twill jeans are a softer denim - due to the thread rising to the left. Right twill is the original jean with threads rising to the right. Simple!

Pinoy Rock Goes all the Way Pop

Pinoy rock goes all the way pop
Well, at least before inquirer takes it down.

I totally agree. I have nothing
else to say.

As for the 26 quotable quotes over here some celebrities actually have brains pala.

And for the ‘worst art of the year’ article stating that those posed to be the next national artists getting apprentices and telling them to sell their art for a huge sum of money and that it’s degrading to the ’soul of art’ and whatnot, I don’t really think so.

Artists are humans too. And they deserve a huge sum of money.

iTunes Best of 2006

by Aaron on Dec.22, 2006, under Articles

Just crossposting. I love LJ.

Yes kiddies, I’m on an album downloading spree. 2006 was a so-so year musicwise for me (on the western aspect). As for Japan, Ultra Blue and HOME were my standouts. God, I keep on downloading songs too much that I only get to listen to the whole album once or twice. Sans a few, I just repeat some songs.

Western:
PreOwned/Downloaded:
John Mayer’s Continuum (#2) - Some of the cheesiness worked for me.
Justin T. - FutureSex/LoveSounds (#4) - Very well rounded album.
Panic! At the Disco - A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out (#7) - Made me dance
Evanescence - The Open Door (#13) - Is so goth-y
AAR - Move Along (#15) - Because of Smallville
Keane - Under the Iron Sea (#20) - Because of the nice packaging.
Christina Aguilera - Back to Basics (#22) - Because she’s tons better than Britney
MCR - The Black Parade (#26) - Because i’m pseudo emo
Daniel Powter (#28) - Bad album. I only liked ‘Bad Day’ and that’s it. I hate his voice.
Dashboard - Dusk & Summer (#45) - Because my sister wanted it
Shakira - Oral Fixation 2 (50++) - Because Santana had a ‘featuring’ song on it.

Just downloaded after seeing the list:
The Fray (#1) - Damn good songs, really.
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open (#11) - Same as the Fray
(side note, I really like alternative bands that sound like switchfoot for some weird reason. I’m blaming it on Mandy Moore.)
Walk the Line (#17) - Side comment : I don’t know why this movie got a really high rating over at IMDB. I know, it’s a good movie but it was nothing of a phenomenal plot whatsoever.
Corinne Bailey Ray (#19) - I should have downloaded this album earlier.

I couldn’t believe that I didn’t get to download Beck’s ‘The Information’ because I wanted the real packaging because it was so fucking innovative design-wise.

As for Japan:
PreOwned:
Utada Hikaru’s ULTRA BLUE (#4) on albums
Utada Hikaru - Keep Tryin’ (#1) single of the year
Utada Hikaru - This is Love (#9)
BoA - Nanairo no Ashita (#10)
Kumi Koda - Butterfly (#11) WTF Last year pa ‘to ah!

WTF Moments:
The Best of Mozart (#1) on albums

…I just realized that I’m actually listening to a lot of western music without noticing it.

FOR NEXT YEAR:
Mandy Moore’s ‘weird album’
Andrea Corr’s solo album
Yuna Ito’s debut album
BoA’s 5th album
NORAH JONES MS. HOT! HAHAHA

and plug:
PLEASE WATCH ‘SUPER NOYPI’ AND ‘SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL 8′! My friends Enzo and classical music classmate Edzon are part of the main crew for the scripts of the two films. Okay, Shake Rattle & Roll may not be on my list to watch but if you have time, please do!
